When creating your fixed price invoices in Knowify, you are given several different invoicing styles to choose from based on the job, client, etc. Each one has its own benefits, and we encourage you to use the style that best fits each of your jobs. See below for a full breakdown of each invoicing style:
Method 1: Invoice Percentage of progress (%) for each line item
When invoicing, input what percentage of the line item is complete from 1-100%. Each line item can be entered individually, and Knowify automatically calculates the dollar amount due, based on percentage complete and contract value.
There is also an option to input the same percentage for all line items simultaneously under the 'Display More Options' button you see when creating an invoice.
Method 2: Invoice certain amount ($) for each line item
When invoicing, input the exact dollar amount you would like to bill for each line item. Based on the contract value, Knowify will calculate what percentage is complete on each line item for reporting purposes.
Method 3: Invoice percentage of progress (%) of the entire job and Change Orders separately
With this method, Knowify will treat the entire job as one line item for invoicing. Enter the percentage of completion for the job as a whole from 1-100%. Any Change orders are counted as a separate line items, and can be invoiced individually by dollar amount.
Knowify will then calculate how much is due on each line item based on the global percentage input. On the invoice, the items will be grouped together under a 'Progress Invoice' line item. You can toggle between only showing the total progress amount you are billing for, or fully display each line item by clicking the eye icon on the Preview Invoice screen
Method 4: Invoice certain amount ($) for the entire job and Change Orders separately
With this method, Knowify will treat the entire job as one line item for invoicing. Enter the exact dollar amount you wish to bill for, up to the full contract value of the job. Any change orders are counted as a separate line item, and can be invoiced individually by dollar amount.
Knowify will break this amount up across all line items based on the total value of each line item. You can toggle between only showing the total progress amount you are billing for, or fully display each line item by clicking the eye icon on the Preview Invoice screen
Method 5: Invoice per unit
If you have set your proposal for Unit Based Invoicing, you also have the option to invoice per unit
When creating your invoice, input the number of units you are going to be invoicing for, between one and the total number you have input on your proposal. Knowify will calculate how much is due for each line item based on the number of units being invoiced for and the total price of the line item.
Once you have started invoicing on a job, you must use that same invoicing style for the remainder of the job. If you find that you need to switch invoicing styles partway through a job, you will need to delete and recreate all previous invoices in the correct style.
