When adding a new service to your catalog, you have the option to check the is a template box. This will expand the form to allow for more entry as this service will now be used as a template to define all costs needed to complete a given unit of work:
The first half of the form is all the information you can include with a standard service but below template details is where we start to define the template
First we define the unit name (for example a painting template might use "Square Feet") and we set a default price to be used if we were to add this to the revenue side of the job on either a contract or invoice:
Everything we input below is going to be what we anticipate the cost is to complete one unit of this service.
You can do so by entering a lump sum cost value
or budgeting specific items/quantities and employees/hours for materials and labor respectively
When creating a new job phase you will have the option to use a service template (a service template will take the place of a job phase):
Once the template is selected, Knowify will prompt how many units we are working on for this service and will preview for us the estimate:
and once confirmed it will populate our budget automatically:
