Document markup lets you mark up plans, PDFs, and job photos directly inside Knowify, right from your project workflows. Instead of downloading files, using separate tools, and re-uploading screenshots, you can annotate documents where your jobs already live, so everything stays organized and tied to the work.
This makes it easier to clearly communicate scope, issues, and changes, and ensures your team is always looking at the same, up-to-date document.
With document markup in Knowify, you can:
- Mark up plans, PDFs, and images directly from a job
- Add arrows, boxes, lines, and text to call out details or issues — from the office or the field
- Save the annotated document back to the job so everyone sees the same version
How to mark up a document or photo in a job
Follow the steps below to mark up a document attached to a job.
- Open a Contract Job or Service Job
- Go to the Documents section within the job.
- Click on a document, then click "Mark up." Or, click on the three dots to the right of the document name and select "Mark up" from the document menu.
- Once in mark up mode, you'll see tools for adding drawings, texts, and shapes to mark up the document.
- When you’re finished, save the document. Saving replaces the original file with the annotated version. The updated document stays attached to the job, and can be printed or downloaded if needed.
Permissions and access
Any web user with access to jobs can mark up documents from the Project Documents section within a job. This ensures document markup stays tied to the right projects and is only available to users who already have access to that work.
