Selecting the appropriate billing frequency for your maintenance contracts is very relevant when it comes to streamlining the invoicing process. The frequency determines how often Knowify will make billable items available for the job.

Billing frequencies can be divided in two main groups:
a) Per visit: This is the most straight forward one, because you will bill the client every time you perform a visit. In these cases, the billable item will be produced when the associated service ticket is marked as complete.
b) Monthly/Quarterly/Semiannually/Yearly: In these cases, the billable items will be made available at the beginning of each period, regardless of the service tickets for each visit. If, for example, the billing frequency is yearly and you perform 20 visits in a given year, only 1 billable item for the value of the contract will be produced for that year.
You can always create manual billable items for each visit in the invoicing page if you need to modify the terms of the contract or charge additional work to the client. We recommend modifying the contract only when you plan on changing the way you invoice the client moving forward.
