Managing service work and equipment in the field means managing a lot of moving parts — trucks, tools, people, and jobs — all at once. With Live Equipment Tracking, Knowify gives you real-time visibility into where your trucks and equipment are, directly inside the system you already use to manage your work.
Powered by FleetSharp, this integration brings live GPS and status data into Knowify so you can see your jobs, people, and equipment together in one place, without switching tools or relying on phone calls and texts.
Here's how it works:
FleetSharp, a leading provider of GPS hardware and fleet management software, supplies the GPS tracking hardware and collects live location and status data from vehicles, equipment, and tools.
Knowify surfaces that data inside the platform alongside your jobs, schedules, and people, so fleet activity is visible in the same system where operational decisions are made.
In addition to sending the live location and status of your trucks and equipment to Knowify, FleetSharp's robust fleet management software also provides solutions for maintenance tracking, fleet performance reporting, driver safety alerts, and AI-powered dashcams.
Live Equipment Tracking on the Activity Map
Once your Knowify and FleetSharp accounts are connected, the location of your tracked trucks and equipment will appear in Knowify's Activity Map.
The Activity Map gives you a snapshot of what’s happening across your business today — including jobs, people, and tracked equipment.
For each tracked vehicle, an icon on the map indicates whether the vehicle is stopped, idling, or moving. Knowify will also display the vehicle's last reported fuel level, daily mileage, run time, and FleetSharp safety score (available information may vary based on vehicle type).
How to view the route history for a piece of tracked equipment
In addition to showing each truck's current status, the Activity Map lets you replay where a truck has been throughout the day. Here's how it works:
- Open the Activity Map from the main navigation.
- Use the date selector at the top of the page to choose the day you want to review. The map defaults to today.
- Locate the truck you want to review on the map, or find it under Equipment in the side rail on the left.
- Hover over the equipment pin on the map. The pin will enlarge and the corresponding truck will be highlighted in the side rail.
- Click the equipment pin. The pin turns blue and the full route replay path appears on the map for that truck, along with a legend in the bottom-right corner.
What you'll see on the map:
- Equipment pin: Shows the truck's last known location. A play icon (▶) means the truck was in motion at last record; a stop icon (⏹) means it was stationary.
- Black dot: Where the truck started each trip.
- Solid blue circle:A cluster of location points, indicating the equipment was stationary or in a small area across multiple GPS pings.
- Outlined blue circle: A single location point, indicating the equipment was in motion.
- Dashed line with arrow: Connects data points and shows the direction of travel.
To view a different truck's route, click another equipment pin on the map or select the truck from the side rail. The breadcrumb trail updates to show that truck's movement for the same date.
