RFIs are Requests for Information and they are a useful method to ask questions or clarifications to your customers. Whether you do residential or commercial work, it is a good practice to use RFIs when you feel you might want to have written proof of a customer's answer, or even to have evidence that you did ask a specific question or clarification.
To start, go to the Documents & RFIs tab of the project and click + send new RFI:
This will pull up a screen for you to enter a question and any supporting files for reference:
Once sent, the RFI will show the status of Sent in your Documents & RFIs screen:
The client/party receiving the RFI will get the following e-mail:
With a PDF of the RFI document attached, and a link to bring them to this screen to respond to the RFI:
And when they submit, they will be prompted for an e-signature:
This will send you an e-mail back to let you know the RFI has been answered:
This will also change the status of the RFI to “Answered” and the response, as well as the uploaded files, will be stored in Documents & RFIs for review and records:
